Meditate with Monica

LPCC, LEP

Meditation is a way to find peace from within. When we meditate, we create the opportunity to connect with our inner, which strengthens our inner voice. When our inner voice is louder than our anxious voice (in other words, the voice in your head that creates thoughts that increase anxiety and fear) we are given the opportunity to step into our power and develop esteem and trust in our abilities.

Often, people view meditation in ancient terms. That is, sitting in silence for hours on end. Some people may even fear that their personality may change and they will no longer be themselves. However, the actuality of meditation is quite the contrary; meditation enhances your personality in a refined and intentional way. Sitting in silence for hours is no longer the norm for meditation. Visualizations, grounding exercises, and guided meditations are more widely used to enhance inner peace.

Not only does meditation bring out the best qualities of your personality, it also increases brain functioning. Meditating regularly increases the functioning of different areas of the brain which also increases important functionality such as focus, memory, decision making, awareness, and self-control. While increasing this healthy brain activity, regular meditation also decreases harmful functioning of the brain such as within the amgydala. The amgydala is the fear system of the brain and the activation of it triggers anxiety and stress.

Monica's goal is to normalize meditating, so that it becomes as common as exercising 3-5 times per week. Book a consultation to learn more about how Monica may implement meditation within therapeutic services.

"A man is not called wise because he talks and talks again; but is he peaceful, loving and fearless then he is in truth called wise." "Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know well what leads you forward and what hold you back, and choose the path that leads to wisdom."
